Maethar Na’ Manwe is Sindarin for “Warriors of Manwe”.

Within the world of Middle Earth Manwe is the leader of the Valar. He is second in authority to Iluvatar, the Father of the Valar. He is married to Varda, better known to many as Elbereth, creator of the stars and of the two Trees of Valinor, from which the Tree of Gondor is descended.

When Earendil finally landed on the shores of Valinor to beg the Valar for help against Morgoth, Manwe is the one that made the decision to bring war to Middle Earth in defense of the Edhil, who were being slowly decimated in their wars with Morgoth to regain the Silmarils. The ensuing war, under the leadership of Manwe, utterly destroyed the face of Middle Earth at that time, but did see the Valar marching Morgoth off in chains for judgement in Valinor.

We are the continuing legacy of that judgement by Manwe to fight and guard against all that is evil in Middle Earth. We are the continuing stern resolve of Manwe to do all we can to drive back the darkness that was Morgoth, and is now Sauron his servant. We will hold back nothing to protect and preserve the lives of the Free Peoples in Middle Earth from the despair, desolation, and ruin that will result with a victory of Sauron.

With this type of mandate we expect the same dignity, respect to others, and fair play from our members. It is part of who we are to support our kinmates in their efforts to become true Warriors of Manwe in our fight against the Darkness. That willingness to help and support also holds true for all players that we come in contact with on Withywindle.

The Maethar Na’ Manwe are warriors in the sense that all members are committed to that started by Manwe and his fellow Valar in the eternal fight of good versus evil. It doesn’t matter if you are a lore-master, rune-keeper, champion, or burglar. What matters is that you have the heart of a warrior and the resolve to match it. True heroes and warriors ive to serve the greater good, and to uphold and protect all that is holy and good and decent in Middle Earth.
